img 6485 600x400
Apple has debuted new 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pros in time for the holiday season with cheaper prices and beefier fourth-generation Core processors with Iris graphics. We spent some brief hands-on time with both models, and we’re more psyched about the 13-inch version, which starts at $1,299–or $200 more than the Air.

iPad mini With Retina Display vs iPad mini

Dubbed the “iPad mini with Retina Display,” Apple’s sequel to the iPad mini bumps up the 7.9-inch display’s resolution to a crisp 2048 x 1536, the same as the brand new iPad Air. Unfortunately, that increased sharpness comes at a much sharper price: $399 even as Apple cut the price on the original mini to $299. Is the new mini worth an extra $100 ? Good news for iOS and Android users, as BlackBerry has just announced it has resumed the rollout of BlackBerry Messenger for both platforms.

According to BlackBerry, iOS users can now download the application for free via App Store, while Android users can get it via Google Play Store.

Keep in mind that BlackBerry will roll out both applications in stages, which means it will be released globally over the next few hours.

If you don't see BBM for Android on Google Play Store yet don't fret, as it will become available later on, if nothing bad happens.

BlackBerry also announced Samsung customers in Sub-Sahara Africa can download BBM today from the Samsung Apps store, while iPhone and other Android users in Africa will be able to download the app in three days’ time.

We will keep you posted with the rollout of BBM for iOS and Android over the next few hours, so stay tuned for more updates.

Update: I've managed to download BBM for iOS via App Store, but I'm not able to use it yet due to high number of people that are trying to log onto the application. Check gallery for additional screenshots.

Update1: Once you download BBM for iOS and Android, open it and enter your email address, so that BlackBerry can inform you when you can start using BlackBerry Messenger.

BlackBerry says its BBM app ready for iPhone, Android devices

BlackBerry says BBM ready for iPhone, Android
BlackBerry says its popular instant messaging service is now ready for Apple's iPhone and devices using the Android operating system, following a technical glitch that delayed the launch by about a month.
Andrew Bocking, head of BBM operations, said in a BlackBerry blog post on Monday that BlackBerry Messenger would be available for free within hours on Apple, Google and select Samsung app stores.
In September, an unreleased version of the BBM software for Android was posted online, causing technical conflicts with the latest version prepared for release, the company said at that time.
BlackBerry decided to yank the BBM app while its programmers worked to solve the problem.
The BBM instant messaging service has been a popular feature for Blackberry users because it allows real-time text messages on a secure server, but doesn't require a customer to purchase an SMS text package from their wireless carrier.
BlackBerry has said it wants to turn BBM into a revenue generator for the company through advertising partnerships.
Shares of the company were down 15 cents to $8.49 on the Toronto Stock Exchange

ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A Review

ASUS's original Ultrabook was the first ultraportable laptop to give the MacBook Air a run for its money, but it ultimately fell short. The new ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A (starting at $1,099, $1,499 as configured) is a sequel to truly get excited about. This successor has the same sleek spun metal design and offers lots more eye candy on the inside with a new 1080p IPS display. The Prime also adds a comfier backlit keyboard and a third-generation Intel Core processor for a serious speed boost. Do all of these ingredients add up to the best Ultrabook yet?

Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display Review

Just when the laptop competition thinks it's closing in on Apple, the company launches a new product that raises the bar for the entire industry. For the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display, it's the screen -- all 2880 x 1800 pixels of it -- that will leave others scrambling to play catch-up. Of course, to push that many pixels you need serious horsepower. And the next-gen MacBook Pro (starting at $2,199) delivers just that with a quad-core Core i7 processor, Nvidia Kepler graphics and super-fast flash memory. Did we mention the MacBook Pro is only 4.5 pounds and is nearly as thin as the Air? Yeah, it's almost not fair.
