WhatsApp Introduces New Features - Admins Can Now Restrict Group Members From Posting

WhatsApp has announced that it is introducing several new useful features and improvements to Groups.
Groups have been a valuable part of WhatsApp since they were introduced. Apart from helping multiple people stay in touch, they are an essential tool to connect users far and wide. Moreover, now WhatsApp is introducing some new group features that will be especially useful to users. Let’s have a look at those new features.

- Group description: WhatsApp groups now have a “short blurb” that can be found below group info. It allows group admins to “set the purpose, guidelines, or topics for the group.” As soon as a new person joins the group, this description will appear at the top of the chat, so that they are aware of what it's about.
- Admin controls: Admin controls within group settings now offer a control that "allows admins to restrict who can change the group’s subject, icon, and description." Also, admins can now remove admin permissions from other group participants. Finally, group creators can never be removed from the group they started.
- Group catch up: Group members who don’t have much time, can now quickly catch up on the messages that mention or reply to them, by merely tapping on the new @ button that’s appears at the bottom right-hand corner of a chat.
- Participant search: Users can now find anyone they’re looking for in a group, just by searching for them on the group info page.
Additional to the above, users who've left a group repeatedly can't be added back. So, if you’ve left a group, there’s no way for someone to add you back. You’d have to do that yourself.
The new features are available on iOS and Android this week. Just remember to update your app.

How you can retire with $1 million by age 50

Take it from the guy who retired at age 52 with a $3 million net worth: You can retire in the next ten years, tops. Want to know how? The secret of retiring early  takes just a few easy steps, according to Business Insider.
First, let's focus on the basics. There are three key things you should be doing at all time: earning, saving, and investing. Why? They’re pretty much guaranteed to catapult your way into retirement, and if you do them more often, you’ll even boost the speed of that journey.
Still, those instructions are a little vague. Exactly how much of each are you supposed to do, and when?
"To reach early retirement you'll need to get specific and determine what level of commitment you can make to each of the three steps, then make a plan to work on those,” the early retiree from ESI Money says.
So, let's break it down a little more. First, make a retirement budget to estimate how much earning, saving, and investing you need to start out with. Piece of cake, right?
Next, it's time to speed up your path to retirement by increasing the gap between what you earn and spend. How? Just start expanding your career and trimming your budget. Accomplish your career growth by raking in those raises and moving up the corporate ladder, so to speak. As for the budget trim, regularly review and adjust your budget. Not only will doing so make your budget more efficient, but it will also maximize your savings rate. Trust us, your bank account will be thanking you. (Need some help? Don't miss these habits of good money savers.)
Now for the third tool, investing. ESI Money recommends investing early in life to boost your overall earnings. “When it comes to investing, time is your biggest asset,” the retiree writes. “The more time invested, the more savings will grow.” So get started right away!
Other ways to increase the money flowing into your bank account (and decrease the money flowing out of it) include earning extra income on the side and avoiding debt accumulation.
Lastly, just keep at it! When your retirement income becomes higher than your expenses, you can take it as a sign to put your feet up and enjoy a nice (early) retirement. You earned it—literally!
Now that you’re earning, saving, and investing like a pro, you deserve a little time off. We dare you to do all 50 of these things that everyone should do before they’re 50.

How to install windows 7 from flashdrive

  1. Create an ISO file from the Windows 7 DVD. If you already know how to create ISO images, fantastic: do it, and then come back here for further instructions on what to do with it.

If you've never created an ISO file from a disc before, check out the tutorial linked above. It'll walk you through installing some free software and then using it to create the ISO. An ISO image is a single file that perfectly represents a disc... in this case, your Windows 7 installation DVD.

Next we're going to work on properly getting that Windows 7 ISO image you just created onto the flash drive.

  2. Download the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Toolfrom Microsoft. Once downloaded, execute the file and follow the installation wizard.

This free program from Microsoft, which works inWindows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP, will correctly format the USB drive and then copy the contents of your Windows 7 ISO file to the drive.

  3. Start the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool program, which is probably located in your Start menu or on your Start screen, as well as on your Desktop.

  4. On the Step 1 of 4: Choose ISO file screen, click Browse.

  5. Locate, and then select, your Windows 7 ISO file. Then click Open.

Note: If you downloaded Windows 7 directly from Microsoft, check for the ISO image wherever you tend to store downloaded files. If you manually created an ISO file from your Windows 7 DVD in Step 1 above then it will be wherever you created it to.

  6. Click Open.

  7. Click Next once you're back on the Step 1 of 4 screen.

  8. Click USB device on the Step 2 of 4: Choose media type screen.

  9. On the Step 3 of 4: Insert USB device screen, choose the flash drive or external hard driveyou want to put the Windows 7 installation files on.

Tip: If you haven't yet plugged in the flash drive or other device you're using then you can do that now. Just click the blue refresh button to make it show up in the list.

  10. Click the Begin copying button.

  11. Click Erase USB Device if you're prompted to do so on a Not Enough Free Space window. Then click Yes to the confirmation in the next window.

Note: If you don't see this it just means that the flash drive or external hard disk you've selected is already empty.

Important: Any data you have on this USB drive will be erased as part of this process.

  12. On Step 4 of 4: Creating bootable USB device, wait for the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool to format the USB drive and then copy the Windows 7 installation files to it from the ISO image you provided.

You'll see a Status of Formatting for several seconds, followed by Copying files. This part might take as long as 30 minutes, maybe even longer, depending on which edition of Windows 7 the ISO file you have is from, as well as on how fast your computer, USB drive, and USB
connection is.     Tip: The percentage complete indicator may sit on one or more percentages for a long time. This does not mean anything is wrong.
  13.  The next screen you see should say Bootable USB device created successfullyYou can now close the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool program. The USB drive can now be used to install Windows 7.
  14. Boot from the USB device to start the Windows 7 setup process.

Tip: You may need to make changes to the boot order in BIOS if the Windows 7 setup process doesn't start when you try to boot from the USB drive. See How To Change the Boot Order in BIOS if you've never done that.

Tip: If you still can't get the flash drive to boot, and you also have a UEFI based computer, see Tip #1 below for help.

Note: If you arrived here from How To Clean Install Windows 7, you can now return to that tutorial and continue installing Windows 7. See How To Install Windows 7 if you weren't doing a clean install or you're not sure what kind of installation to do.
Tips:
  1. When the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool formats the flash drive during the process above, it does so using NTFS, a file system that some UEFI systems won't boot from if on a USB stick.
  2. When the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool formats the flash drive during the process above, it does so using NTFS, a file system that some UEFI systems won't boot from if on a USB stick.

To get the USB drive to boot on these computers, you should copy the data from the flash drive onto a folder on your computer, then reformat the flash drive using the older FAT32 file system, and then copy that same data back onto the drive.

What to do when you lose your phone

Losing a smartphone is one of the worst nightmares that can happen to you, especially if the device is one of the high-end handsets that cost you a fortune.
Recently, a friend came to me looking utterly distraught. “My phone is gone!” he declared. I could see tears rolling down from his eyes. His sadness and worries were clearly visible and palpable.
The phone that he had lost was an expensive Android phone he had bought about two weeks earlier. With the technology offered in the latest smartphones, he had his entire business and personal life uploaded to that phone. His emails, photos (some of which were pretty sensitive) and contacts were all there. This is not to mention how easily one could get into his social media accounts, as well as online and mobile banking accounts through the phone.
My friend obviously had a million reasons in this world to feel like a chicken with its head cut off. He had gone to the bank and placed the phone on a bench as he was filling out some forms.
A couple of minutes after leaving the banking hall, he remembered that he no longer had possession of his phone. He rushed back to the bank, but his frantic search for the phone was not successful. The staff at the bank even went over the CCTV footage but owing to the large amount of human traffic in the banking hall, nothing conclusive was found.
My friend had an Android Device Manager in his phone. Android Device Manager has some remote phone tracking capabilities. My friend had already tried to call his phone number, but there was no response.
This could have been coincidental because the phone’s battery was already dying at the time he was at the bank, however, it could probably be that whoever had picked it had already removed and most likely replaced the SIM.
Since the phone was synced to his online Google credentials, Android Device Manager would help to locate the phone when the phone was connected to the internet through mobile or Wi-Fi. It is also possible to lock or wipe my friend’s credentials remotely using Android Device Manager.
We, therefore, used my friend’s details to log into Android Device Manager Web portal. Unfortunately, we could not trace the phone. This could have resulted from the person resetting it to factory settings. If this had happened, then we would have better luck finding a pin in a haystack than tracing the phone!
Nonetheless, we used Android Manager to set a message on the phone’s lock screen. The message was simple “if you find this phone; please contact me on XX-XXX-XXXX a cash reward of ….. Naira will be given.” We even changed the phone name to read the same message.
If we did not get a reply in the next few days, we would have to remotely wipe the data on the phone, block the phone and deactivate the SIM.
My friend, on the other hand, had already given up and was planning on saving up for a new phone. Nonetheless, two hours later, the kind stranger who had picked the phone called. We planned a meeting where he obtained his reward, and we received the phone.
There are a few lessons that we can pick up from this experience.
In case you lose your phone:
• Do not panic; calmly retrace your steps to where you last remember having the phone. Try calling your phone and ask around if anyone has seen it.
• Ensure that the phone is locked; this is a precaution that you ought to take before you lose the phone. Locking your phone with a PIN or password will keep the personal details safe in the event of your phone disappearing.
• Install a tracker app in your phone; having Android Device Manager or Find My iPhone may not be adequate. There are several third party apps that are excellent phone trackers. Such apps will be of great help in finding your phone. Use the phone tracker software to find your phone.
• Leave a message on the phone; the phone tracing app should easily help you put a message on the phone’s lock-screen. Let anyone who finds the phone know how he or she can reach you. The message had better be simple and straightforward. Incentives such as cash can be promised for returning the phone.
• Do not judge; it would be wrong to assume that whoever has your phone stole it. It could be that the individual picked it up with no bad intention. Your interactions with the finder should, therefore, be positive.
• Contact your mobile provider; this is especially important if you are on a post-paid talk-time plan. Calling the mobile provider will not only deactivate the SIM but will also help you block the phone.
• Finally, when meeting the person who finds your phone; be cautious. Meet in a public place and have a friend or two to accompany you.
Someone reading this might be asking; is this possible in Nigeria? I’d say yes because aside my friend, someone has actually returned my phone that dropped while stepping out of the car and after we met and he is back, I gave him a cash reward

“Our Creativity and Love for Fashion Inspired MARYMAII” – Jenifer and Jessica Danjuma

They maybe be new to the game but they bring on the best the industry has seen in a while. Jessica and Jenifer Danjuma who are co-founders of luxurious ready to wear line MARYMAII are gradually taking over the Nigerian fashion scene with their breath taking designs and stylish wears.
We had a chat with the founders and they were to happy to tell us how they started out and what they are currently working on.
What inspired you to become a fashion designer?
We have always been creatively inclined but we fell in love with fashion around the age of 16. We had a massive vogue collection and really enjoyed fashion blogging and vintage shopping at the time. We knew we were going to work in fashion but it was only after we saw a lack of what we liked to wear in stores paired with the fact that there was still a gap for stylish, good quality, affordable yet luxurious ready-to-wear clothing in Nigeria that we saw it as a great idea to design our own line.
Once we developed knowledge about the business of Fashion and the creation of designs from concept sketch to a fully rendered garment we launched MARYMAII.

What projects are you currently working on?
We are currently working on expanding MARYMAII, starting with a Loungewear & Sleepwear range. We have always had issues finding luxurious and good quality sleepwear in Nigeria so we said why don’t we design our own with the MARYMAII aesthetic? We’re currently working on samples for this and we’re excited to see how it comes out.

Is fashion something you have always had a flair for or is it something you took up?
Fashion has always been our first love. We were always obsessed with clothes, magazines, runway collections and shopping growing up. We would always take one hour to get our outfits ready for going to class when we were at school. To us, choosing our outfits was more fun than where ever it was that we had to be. It has always been a part of us and has always given us the ability to convey a message without speaking and avidly express ourselves.
What inspires your designs?
Our designs are inspired by anything. It ranges from an emotion or a mood to a certain texture or architectural piece we may have come across recently. But most of all the MARYMAII aesthetic is always present which is ‘Elegance with an Edge’. It’s a mixture of hard but soft, classic but edgy pieces. It mirrors our personalities as twins perfectly so we make sure every piece we create represents this.
Did you receive any sort of training, whether professional or otherwise?
We attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Technology (FIDM) in Los Angeles, California. Where we both got our Associates Degree in Fashion Design and a thorough experience on the garment design process. It was a great learning experience.
What motivates you?
The fact that we want to leave our legacy in the Fashion Industry. It is a primary goal of ours.
Secondly, we’re motivated by the endless possibilities we are privileged to have access to as a millennial in this digital age of the internet.
What do you think about the Nigerian fashion industry?
This Nigerian Fashion Industry is growing which is exciting. There is also an inclusion of not just Haute Couture Designers but Ready to Wear Designers which is important for customers to have the option of both. But there is still a gap in the African Fashion Industry at large and we need to build and celebrate African Fashion and Designers rather than looking to the West for recognition.
What advice will you give to upcoming designers?
We would advice you to be passionate about your craft, be confident in your abilities, and learn how to make it profitable. As creatives we focus a lot on the creative process and not enough on the business aspect.

What projects have you worked on?

We recently worked on creating a Fashion video edit to our collection. Fashion videography is a very important tool we’re going to be using in future to capture the essence of our brand.
What is your favorite part of being a fashion designer?
The fact that a design can go from your imagination, to concept sketch to a fully rendered garment worn by women around you. That feeling is always magical.
Who is/are your fashion icons?
Rihanna & Tom Ford

What are the five items you can’t do without?

1. Oversized white shirt
2. Lip balm
3. Sunscreen
4. An iPhone
5. Sunglasses
