FIFA publishes its latest list of items banned from stadiums during the Russia World Cup next month.
In case you were thinking of wearing a corset while riding a Segway, sipping from your flask and with a puppy in tow, think again.
FIFA has published its latest ever-growing list of items that are banned from stadiums during the Russia World Cup next month.
These are just a few of the items banned from Russia 2018 World Cup stadiums
Animals, selfie sticks, skateboards, scooters, beer, food, knives, guns, spray cans and umbrellas are also banned during the tournament.
There will be body scanners, bag X-ray machines and numerous searches for fans to endure. However, unlike at an airport, shoes and belts will not have to be removed.
Stadiums open three hours before kick off so if fans get there early they will have time to find somewhere to store any items banned from the ground.
The FIFA code of conduct document is 11 pages long and goes into incredible detail including the circumference of bags allowed into the arenas.
Other items banned include bullet-proof vests, body protection gear used in martial arts or extreme sports, or corsets (except when prescribed by a doctor). Thankfully, guns, knives, grenades, explosives and acid are also banned from the World Cup grounds. Guide dogs and wheelchairs will be allowed into stadiums. However, if fans want to take in food and drink they will be confiscated because FIFA only likes fans to enjoy its official partners beverages during matches. Russian 2018 blogger Danil Timin has got advice for fans worried they will have their belongings confiscated before they watch the game.
He said:
‘It’s okay to bring a bag to the stadium during the 2018 World Cup. You can take a purse, a handbag or a regular backpack which are all fine. If you have something bigger, I would recommend to not try your luck. ‘It’s not worth a chance of missing a game. In this case, leave your stuff somewhere before heading to the stadium.’
‘If you are traveling to a different city right after the game, the best thing to do is to store your belongings at the train station (the one that you will be leaving from) prior to the match.
